Ping Pals

The reason I am here...the children...the education...international integration.

Nihao - Hello!

Project Ping's Publishing Pal Doug
As this Blogspot and my Facebook account are blocked here in China, Ping's Pal, i.e., EddyTour-In-Chief Doug has been volunteered to post my emails in a somewhat coherent manner on my blog from the States. This seemed the best way to get information and pictures out about my adventures. BTW did you count the number of kids in that classroom?
Once again, we have to thank Ping Pal Marie for The Daily Book Of Positive Quotations. Today's quote (December 31st.) "We are made to persist. That's how we find out who we are." - Tobias Wolff

This book  explains about persistence which follows the same train of thought contained in Ping Pal Valerie's Christmas present Quote:
"There may be times when we feel like giving up. Everyone has these moments. Life is an adventure, and sometimes it's an adventure that gets the better of us.

But we keep on, and we will keep on.
Around the corner is something we haven't seen before. It could be something wonderful.
I will continue on this adventure of life as long as I can."

And what an adventure it is! Every day we are awestruck and revel in the fact that we are in China. As many of Ping's Pals know we have had those times when we felt like giving up. And, so it is, with your great support, that we were able to be in the position to say, "Yes!" to this wonderful opportunity. Thank you.
We really like it here in Shenzhen and the schools have been very kind and supportive. Principals, teachers and students all treat us with great respect. It is such a gift to be teaching others who desire to become better teachers in their classroom. We are very happy with the new job, and surroundings.
Ping snuggles with Carol & Eddy...
Boy, oh boy, did we have a moment that took our breath away when we rounded a corner and came upon one (of the five) of my "new" schools, Mei Lian, for the first time.  Ping was a bit confused because he had only been there once before and had come upon the school from a different angle than the first time. Having learned from his first adventure Ping knew, when he spotted some kids in their uniform blue jogging suits, that he needed to follow them. Like clock work they led him straight to a school gate. When Eddy and Ping looked up, they quickly knew they were in the right place! Edward James Ormond pointed to the banner and said to the Chinese guard, in English, "That's Me!"

English & Chinese Banner: WELCOME EDWARD JAMES ORMOND

Wow! Thinking back to those "giving up" moments a few years ago to viewing this incredible banner on that day was just amazing.

Ping knows he and Doug need to catch up on our adventures with Project Ping, but we're including a few pictures of the hotel view (Hong Kong Hi-Rises beyond the  rice paddies and beyond the mountains) the school banner and a few other funnies now. The timeline may be out of order but the time for show is right!

Still in awe...stay tuned...
